HALF Marathon

The HALF Marathon consist of a 13.1 mile run (21 km) in a one loop route that will take participants through the heart of the town core of Loiza and into the deep coconut plantations of Piñones.

The following is a brief summary of issues we think you may be interested in before you start. The following instructions detail the route:

  • After departing the transition area, you will run westbound on State Road Number 187 for a total distance of 3.5 miles (6 km) to Espiritu Santo Street.
  • You then turn right on State Road Number 187 westbound again towards the Vacia Talega Beach that is located at mile 6.05. Beware in this area and maintain yourself on the left side of the road.
  • Turn around at the checkpoint run back on State Road Number 187 eastbound.
  • Turn left at State Road Number 188 northbound
  • Turn right on State Road Number 187 eastbound until you reach the finish line located at the Herrera Bridge that divides Rio Grande from Loiza.

The oasis and hydration stations will be located along the route at around ever mile throughout the 13.1 miles (21 km). In these stations we will provide participants with the following:

  • Water
  • Energy drinks
  • Carbonated refreshments
  • Energy gels
  • Bananas and oranges

The Support and Gear (“SAG”) vehicle will follow participants along the entire route providing transportation to the transition area to those that require said service. Race organizers will not be responsible of providing help to athletes that choose to stay in the race once the cut off time limit has been exterminated.

In order to assure participants that this event will be competitive, if the number of participants is not achieved, the directors then reserve the right to postpone the event for a future date and all registration fees will be reimbursed. THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO THE HALFIRON DISTANCE 70.3 WHICH WILL TAKE PLACE REGARDLESS THE NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS.
